You want a real festival. Am I right? A festival of real bands and real people, that doesn’t cost you a fortune only to be herded into a pen with every undesirable teenage crisis victim of Disturbed, with green hair dye running down their face and vomiting out the beer and drugs they couldn’t handle. We’ve all been there I’m sure, but it gets old quick.
Here’s a festival, that is so cheap it will cost you nothing! It’s GrudgeFest!’16. And if you like grind and punk you’ve got to get down to this!
As part of Melbourne grindcore band Grudge‘s album launch, Cabin Fever has been asked to play on Grudgefest!’16 at the Brunswick Hotel, Brunswick. It’s a stella line up of grind/fastcore/punk with Hailgun headlining the day.
Of coarse theres Grudge and Cabin Fever, but also Disparo from Sydney, before they take off on their world tour! Literally a world tour!
Meth Leppard from Adelaide are on this amazing line up, I haven’t seen these guys yet. I’ve been giving the demo tape a good flogging recently, I really dig it, it includes a cover of Siege of Power, so impossible not to like it really!
Morbid Anal have a great name, I’m assuming grindcore or goregrind style. i haven’t heard them yet, but I ran into members at Yah Yah’s NYE, and I found out that one is the guitarist for Odiousembowel. So they should be cool as.
Also Melbourne Grind Syndicate goovers ChristChrusher. And Drain Life and ROT too. And there it all is it. I bet that’s most impressive lineup of fast music you’re going to see for a while!

YOBFEST II is a all day band extravaganza featuring Western Australia’s real underground. Punk, Metal, Ska, Heavy rock, Sludge, Indie…a real mix of interesting bands who play for the love of music. The atmosphere reflects this ethos, audience members congregate in a large car park next to a factory in industrial Canning Vale. It’s BYO drinks, esky and chairs. And cheap entry, ensues this is the best day you’ll have for 10 bucks and a slab!

In Australia we have ended up with an extreme neoliberal fundamentalist right wing government, who currently are stripping us of civil liberties in the name of law and order, detaining refugees on off shore detention centres in the name of national security and privatising anything in a flawed belief that the private market (made to profit shareholders and CEO’s) has any compassion for peoples welfare…and speaking of profits, aboriginal communities are being shut down because they are “unviable”. People who have been here 40,000 – 60,000 years or longer are being displaced because our government don’t care for their welfare!

Today, 1st July 2015 it has become illegal for health care workers to speak out about sexual abuse that happens in detention centres on Manus Island and Naru.
It has become illegal for anyone working in detention centres to make public what goes on in our detention centres. With the possibility of long jail terms of 5 years.
We can’t sit back anymore…we must speak up, that’s why we are giving you a taste from our new record (Do Not Resuscitate) today because all this amounts to what we see as a DISGUSTING SOCIETY.

It’s an all too common story of Occupying force and multinational company making the lives of the people who’s land it is a living hell. Since being asked to play this show, I’ve learnt a lot more about the struggle for independence in West Papua and hopefully we can raise some coin and some awareness at this gig to contribute to their ongoing fight. After all whats the good of punk music if it doesn’t raise awareness, help the underdog, challenge the mind and make you think for someone else for a change?
